Director of Practice Review Services
This candidate will be responsible for the management of the practice review portion
of the risk management department and will supervise and evaluate practice review staff.
The qualified candidate will assist in preparing practice review goals and developing
practice review guidelines, protocols, and procedures. The candidate will supervise the
closed claim coding process and PIAA coding data retrieval. The candidate will also track
risk management review services and provide data relevant to the outcomes of office-based
training. The candidate will also assist in preparing the departmental budget.
Qualified candidates should have 5 or more years experience in health care risk management,
quality assurance, utilization review, or physician relations with at least 3 years supervisory
experience. A bachelor's degree in nursing or a healthcare field is preferred.
We are looking for an organized, service-oriented professional with polished written and oral
communication skills. This is an Austin-based position and requires travel as necessary.
Underwriting manager
This candidate will direct the daily administration of the company's underwriting standards and objectives with a team of up to four medical professional liability underwriters. The candidate will also handle specific master/key accounts as assigned by the senior vice president. Other duties include assisting in the training and development of underwriting personnel and participating in setting the scope of underwriting authority. The candidate will be responsible for meeting the requirements of the underwriting review committee by carefully evaluating accounts to be submitted. The candidate will maximize quality work while maintaining team morale.
This position requires extensive knowledge of insurance coverage and underwriting issues, procedures, and practices. The candidate should also have effective written and oral communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and strong leadership skills. The candidate should also be able to supervise, motivate, and manage employees. Experience administering performance reviews and hiring team members is essential. The position requires a minimum 10 years of progressive professional liability underwriting experience.
