HIPAA

The process of attaining and maintaining HIPAA compliance is a monumental task. As your professional liability carrier, TMLT is considered a business associate. Privacy rules require that physician offices obtain in writing satisfactory assurances that any business associate will appropriately safeguard any protected health information it receives or creates on behalf of the physician.

In order to assist you in complying with HIPAA, we have developed a Business Associate Agreement. This agreement complies with the privacy regulations and establishes a standardized internal process demonstrating TMLT's commitment to compliance with federal privacy regulations.

Please read the Business Associate Agreement, complete, sign and return it to TMLT. The effective date of this agreement is April 14, 2003. Your signed Business Associate Agreement will be kept on file in the TMLT Underwriting Department.
