OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants should be better able to:

  • discuss the definition and dynamics of human trafficking in the U.S. and Texas;
  • describe the impact of human trafficking on health;
  • recognize signs of labor and sex trafficking in patients and appropriately assess their risk;
  • explain key aspects of trauma-informed approaches to patients impacted by human trafficking; and
  • explore resources and connections with agencies and organizations to support survivors of human trafficking.

Susie Baldwin, MD, MPH, FACPM
Susie Baldwin is a preventive medicine physician who works as the Medical Director of the Office of Women's Health in the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. She is the Immediate Past President of the Board of Directors and a Co-Founder of HEAL Trafficking.

Jess Torres
Jess Torres was a victim of trafficking and will speak to their personal experience.
