CLAIM REPRESENTATIVE
This position, in the Claims Department, is responsible for the coordination and resolution of assigned medical malpractice claims brought against insured physicians within a prescribed geographical territory. 

Individual holding this position should possess the following.

  • Ability to handle the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of liability claims, as well as the supervision of defense counsel on cases with a potentially moderate to severe exposure.
  • Five years minimum of progressively responsible experience in the property and casualty insurance field handling bodily injury claims (physicians’ liability experience preferred).
  • Availability for significant amount of travel, including overnight stays.
  • Strong analytical skills and effective oral and written communication skills, plus knowledge and understanding of basic professional liability insurance contracts, regulations, and litigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree and Adjuster’s License required. If all other selection criteria are met except the possession of an Adjuster’s License, the selected candidate will be required to obtain the license within six months of employment.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & BILLING REPRESENTATIVE 
This position, in the Accounting Department, is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of billing duties and providing professional, high-level customer service to policyholders, primarily via telephone.

In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • manage invoices and notices of cancellation;
  • perform daily audits on AR aging and credit balance reports;                                                                                 
  • prepare and process refunds daily;
  • prepare daily invoice reports, sort through printed batched invoices, and prepare for delivery to mailroom;
  • review billing to ensure accuracy;
  • respond to incoming calls and questions;
  • provide technical support to policyholders; and
  • perform outbound courtesy calls to customers.

A minimum of two to three years of customer service, underwriting, or accounts receivable experience in an insurance or medical environment is preferred. Some college and/or basic insurance classes is also preferred. 

Knowledge of basic accounting procedures, general office practices/procedures and telephone techniques is required. Must have strong organizational, problem solving, and customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and work with frequent interruptions. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft applications and the use of various web-based applications for billing research/payment inquiries.

UNDERWRITER
TMLT is seeking an underwriter who will be primarily responsible for the evaluation and assessment of medical professional liability risks arising from physician and ancillary staff activities. Qualified candidate will promote teamwork through leadership and motivation and deliver high quality customer service to internal and external clients.
 
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications.

  • Knowledge of professional liability insurance underwriting fundamentals and principles.
  • Strong analytical reasoning aptitude and the ability to make sound underwriting decisions under pressure, through application of underwriting guidelines and standards. 
  • Detail-oriented nature and produce highly accurate work.
  • Risk analysis and selection of new and renewal physician and health care provider business.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills are essential.
  • Aptitude at developing positive working relationships and displaying a professional demeanor.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate information accurately, clearly, and as intended.
  • Ability to excel within a team environment.
  • Leadership and empowerment skills.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. 

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. A minimum of three years of medical professional liability underwriting experience is strongly desired. Some travel required, including overnight stays. Must obtain Texas Department of Insurance General Lines Agent License within six months of employment and is responsible for maintaining license requirements.

UNDERWRITING CLERK 
This position, in the Underwriting & Business Development (UWBD) department, is responsible for providing clerical and general office support to the UWBD department.
 
In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • distribute incoming department mail; 
  • maintain large volume printers; 
  • prepare paper policy documents printed for mail; 
  • process requests for verification of policyholder’s coverage/claims history;
  • maintain the credentialing portal; 
  • review and process changes for renewal applications;
  • review, index and/or distribute customer service requests received from company websites or directly to underwriting department; 
  • review and research returned mail and returned emails and makes updates; 
  • check specific websites for press releases weekly and refers to appropriate underwriter; and 
  • research for duplicate medical license and temporary medical license status in OASIS using a Pentaho report.

Requirements including working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, assigning documents to appropriate file folders, telephone techniques, and office equipment. Must be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word and Outlook and be a high school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of one year clerical/general office experience is also required.

UNDERWRITING TECHNICIAN     
This position, in the Underwriting and Business Development Department (UWBD), is responsible for providing professional, high-quality customer service to TMLT/TMIC/LSA policyholders, primarily via telephone. This position will also assist underwriters in performing a full range of underwriting technical functions requiring a high degree of accuracy.
 
Duties of this position include the following.

  • Answer and respond to routine and mid-level phone calls and emails from policyholders while referring high-level questions to the appropriate underwriter.
  • Data entry of new business, renewals, endorsements, reinstatements, and cancellations/non-renewals for new and existing business.
  • Process new business applications for moonlighting physicians following established workflows. Accept and process TMIC deletions on existing policies.
  • Compile spreadsheet and loss reports on renewals to include present and estimated renewal premium, discounts, and other special factors.
  • Coordinate with accounting representative and underwriters in review of invoices, pending cancellation list, notice of cancellation process, billing issues, and assists the customer service team with billing questions.
  • Generate requests to underwriting service specialist team to produce endorsements, letters, and forms for emailing, mailing, and faxing.
  • Process TMA drop and pending lists sending warning or cancellation letters as needed
  • Process entry on all renewals requiring manual rate letters.

The successful candidate must possess effective communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal. Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and customer service skills are also required. Technical skills required include knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Must have achieved high school graduation or equivalent, some college and/or basic insurance courses preferred.

Minimum of two years of experience in a technical role in an insurance or medical professional liability environment is preferred
