BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT REPRESENTATIVE
This position, in the Underwriting and Business Development Department (UWBD) is responsible for providing professional, high quality customer service while prospecting, quoting, and selling medical professional liability insurance new business accounts. This position focuses on servicing solo physicians and their allied health care professionals; works directly with physicians and allied health care professionals; and may also work with agent partners. 
 
In this role, the successful candidate would perform the following duties.

    • Prioritize incoming calls and online quote requests from prospects.
    • Respond to questions and concerns from prospective policyholders via telephone, email, and chat bot with the goal of identifying their needs, providing accurate rate indications, and ultimately closing the sale.
    • Utilize educated consultative selling to create and leverage opportunities. Produce accurate indications in the system in a timely manner to provide to individual physician prospects, in compliance with service standards. Work with the underwriters to examine risks, determine discounts, and ensure accounts are appropriately covered for their exposure.
    • Generate leads and performs targeted outreach via emails and cold/warm/social calls to target leads.

Must have a working knowledge of system, database, and CRM utilization, and basic knowledge of insurance practices and procedures, preferably Property and Casualty insurance. Proficiency is required in Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
 
Must be highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and customer service skills. Bachelor’s degree is preferred, in addition to a minimum of three years of experience in insurance sales, preferably in medical professional liability. Must obtain Texas Department of Insurance General Lines Agent License within six months of employment and is responsible for maintaining license requirements.

CLAIM REPRESENTATIVE

This position, in the Claims Department, is responsible for the coordination and resolution of assigned medical malpractice claims brought against insured physicians within a prescribed geographical territory.  
 
Individual holding this position should possess the following.

    • Ability to handle the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of liability claims, as well as the supervision of defense counsel on cases with a potentially moderate to severe exposure.
    • Five years minimum of progressively responsible experience in the property and casualty insurance field handling bodily injury claims (physicians’ liability experience preferred).
    • Availability for significant amount of travel, including overnight stays.
    • Strong analytical skills and effective oral and written communication skills, plus knowledge and understanding of basic professional liability insurance contracts, regulations, and litigation.
    • Bachelor’s degree and Adjuster’s License required. If all other selection criteria are met except the possession of an Adjuster’s License, the selected candidate will be required to obtain the license within six months of employment.

UNDERWRITING TECHNICIAN
This position, in the Underwriting & Business Development (UWBD) department, is responsible for providing professional, high-quality customer service to policyholders of TMLT and its affiliate companies. This position assists underwriters in performing a full range of underwriting technical functions requiring a high degree of accuracy.
 
Duties of the Underwriting Technician include, but are not limited to:

    • answer and respond to routine and mid-level phone calls and emails from policyholders while referring high-level questions to the appropriate underwriter;
    • perform data entry of new business, renewals, endorsements, reinstatements, and cancellations/non-renewals for new and existing business;
    • process new business applications for moonlighting physicians following established workflows and accept and process changes/deletions on existing policies;
    • compile spreadsheet and loss reports on renewals to include present and estimated renewal premium, discounts, and other special factors;
    • coordinate with accounting representative and underwriters to review invoices, pending cancellation list, notice of cancellation process, and billing issues;
    • generate requests to underwriting service specialist team to produce endorsements, letters, and forms for emailing, mailing, and faxing; and
    • process entry on all policy renewals that require manual correspondence and rate letters.

Requirements for this position include:

    • effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
    • strong analytic, problem solving, organization, and customer service skills; and
    • knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

High school diploma or equivalent, some college and/or basic insurance courses is preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in a technical role in an insurance or medical professional liability environment is also preferred
