Summer Internship Program
We are seeking qualified candidates for our Summer Internship Program, taking place June 2 - August 8, 2025. This program presents a hands-on learning experience in a supportive, mentoring environment that provides participants with a realistic look at the medical malpractice insurance industry.

POSITION
UNDERWRITING INTERN
As an intern with the Underwriting Department, you will focus on developing the skills necessary for success by assisting with our new and enhanced training materials and Learning Management System (LMS) platform. While your assignments will vary over time as you gain experience and skills, interns will typically perform some of the work of an entry-level underwriting training coordinator.
Duties may include the following.
- Assist with creating and editing new training documents and learning materials for Underwriting team members and others to reference.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the Underwriting department to establish a high-level of accuracy on processes and procedures (P&Ps).
- Design, record, and edit on-demand video and other digital training, and post it to the LMS.
- Help with implementing and customization of the LMS for the Underwriting and other departments.
- Market newly developed training and post updates to the TMLT intranet.
- Learn the basics of underwriting, medical liability insurance, and how to use various systems and applications.
- Edit and prepare reports for the Learning and Development Manager.

Together you will work to meet goals central to TMLT's mission of "making a positive impact on the quality of health care for Texans, by educating, protecting, and defending physicians."
QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for an internship at TMLT, you must be working toward a bachelor’s degree and graduating in 2026, 2027, or 2028. In addition, the following criteria are highly recommended:
- attention to detail with an eye for accuracy and a love of graphic design;
- results-oriented, with the ability to complete assignments on time and manage multiple priorities concurrently;
- enthusiasm for learning new technical editing tools;
- actively seek coaching and feedback;
- effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
- ability to seek and share information in a clear, concise manner;
- proclivity for initiating, building, and maintaining effective interpersonal relationships;
- effective analytical skills to gather information, analyze facts, and draw conclusions; and
- proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of TechSmith tools and/or video editing skills is also preferred.
