- discuss the importance of effective communication between physicians, patients, and the healthcare team in patient education, diagnostic result management, informed consent, and other critical areas; and
- develop risk management strategies to reduce the risk of communication failures and improve patient safety.
Speakers
Dan Ballard, JD is a partner with Ballard Simmons and Jasper LLP. He received a BA with Honors from the University of Texas and a JD with Honors from the University of Texas School of Law. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1983. Mr. Ballard has spoken extensively on risk management, medical malpractice defense, and Medical Board issues to physicians throughout the state.
Tanya Babitch is the Vice President of Risk Management at TMLT. She has more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. Before joining TMLT in 2002, Tanya earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, and worked at St. David’s Medical Center in health information management and continuing medical education (CME) planning.
